Laboratory Mathematics: Medical and Biological Applications 4th Edition Pdf Download

Laboratory Mathematics: Medical and Biological Applications 4th Edition
Author: Visit ‘s June Mundy Campbell Page ID: 0801628733

Paperback: 457 pagesPublisher: Mosby-Year Book; 4th edition (January 1990)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0801628733ISBN-13: 978-0801628733 Product Dimensions: 0.8 x 7.5 x 9.2 inches Shipping Weight: 1.6 pounds Best Sellers Rank: #1,100,448 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #44 in Books > Science & Math > Mathematics > Applied > Biomathematics #617 in Books > Textbooks > Medicine & Health Sciences > Medicine > Clinical > Diagnosis #1023 in Books > Medical Books > Medicine > Diagnosis

I am a Math Phobic person and for me this book is practically My Laboratory Math Bible. This book alone helped me, a Math Phobic, to finally understand laboratory math. The Campbell’s are truly gifted when it comes to making things understandable to the nonmathematically inclined Labortorian.
This book has almost every imaginable formula that you could possibly need in the clinical lab. There’s tons of examples and exercises coupled with clear concise explanations throughout. This is the best book on the market for Laboratory Science students and for those who need a brush up on lab math.

I just looked over this book last night. I like it b/c it has every type of mathematics procedure for those that have forgotten to do them. The explanations seem very detail, and there are a lot of examples that seem to explain things a lot better than from the simple explanation of my professor. Although, I would like the font to be a bit bigger which would be nice whose eyes cannot look at small objects.

The book shows you all possible types of problems you could encounter with laboratory math and it is very thorough in its explanations. At the end of each chapter are a substantial amount of practice problems with the answers in the back of the book.

The book was in very good condition and is what I need for my class. Would order more books for school from this company if the price is reasonable cause cheaper than what school bookstore is selling them for.

It was delieverd right away but unfortunately it was not the one i needed for the class. The school messed up in the expectation. But it was in very great conditions.

This is a really well written, comprehensive book. It covers just about anything you’d want to know about clinical studies. It will teach you a lot even if you’ve been doing clinical research for a while, it’s very sophisticated. But not too many equations, although it has a few. You will probably find it very accessible even if you’re new to clinical research.

As a newcomer to the pharma industry, this text is a must have to learn about clinical trials medicine through its early stages of development to advanced standards of clincal trial methodology. The text is easy to read and clearly guides the reader to understand all clinical trial components and processes. Perfect for students and industry persons alike, I highly recommend this book if you need to gain a thorough understanding of clinical trials research, from the basics of definition through comprehensive clinical trial analysis.

I read this book because I was impressed by another book, Global Clinical Trials, which was edited by one of the authors.

This is a pretty nice book that does a great job of covering a very wide range of fundamental topics that anyone doing clinical trials ought to know. It would have been great to have had this book when I started in industry.

Reading and Understanding Multivariate Statistics Kindle Edition Pdf Download

Reading and Understanding Multivariate Statistics Kindle Edition
Author: Laurence G. Grimm ID: B004X29962

Done.
File Size: 4974 KBPrint Length: 373 pagesPublisher: American Psychological Association; 1 edition (December 15, 1994)Publication Date: December 15, 1994 Sold by:  Digital Services, Inc. Language: EnglishID: B004X29962Text-to-Speech: Enabled X-Ray: Not Enabled Word Wise: Not EnabledLending: Not Enabled Enhanced Typesetting: Not Enabled Best Sellers Rank: #226,815 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store) #19 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Counseling & Psychology > Statistics #36 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Counseling & Psychology > Research #170 in Books > Medical Books > Psychology > Research

As someone who has tried to teach multivariate statistics to non-statistician graduate students for the past 5 years, I have found this to be a very valuable and clearly-written text. As advertised and as the previous reviewer noted, the text is largely free of complex statistical equations and instead has clear descriptions of each type of test as well as common applications of that test. It is a perfect introduction for students who are intimidated by numbers and equations yet need to know about multivariate statistics for their graduate studies.
The book has several weaknesses that I found require supplementing with other texts. For one, there is no tie-in with major computerized statistical applications like SPSS and SAS nor are there example exercises for students to run and interpret statistical tests for themselves. I have found such exercises to be invaluable in teaching the meaning and uses of multivariate tests. There also should have been a discussion of general issues that cut across the different multivariate tests such as data cleaning, data transformation, the role of correlation matrices and the like and so on. For coverage of these issues, I have found it helpful to use chapters from Tabachnik and Fidel’s Using Multivariate Statistics text. Finally, a number of tests, such as survival analysis are not covered in this text, though a second volume by the same authors does cover survival analysis as well as other techniques and should be considered as a companion volume as well.
In sum, this is an excellent and unusually clearly written text that is ideal for non-statistician graduate students in the social sciences. More in-depth analysis of important issues related to multivariate statistics and classroom exercises using statistical computer applications requires augmenting this text with additional readings.

The book is an overview of a variety of multivariate statistical techniques. The book is geared as a companion to a heavy duty stats textbook, with the purpose of providing conceptual discussions of each of the techniques. And it succeeds brilliantly. The authors of each chapter treat the topic statistic with very little, if any Greek, plenty of concrete examples, and clearly delineate the assumptions of the statistical procedure, when it is appropriate and inappropriate to use the procedure, and how to interpret the results of the analysis. If what you want is simply to get a good, practical, conceptual understanding of a statistical procedure and its uses, without any of the theoretical, mathematical derivations, this is the book for you!! This book literally saved my grade in my multivariate stats class. No grad student should be without this.

"Reading and Understanding Multivariate Statistics" achieves exactly what its title implies. Geared toward non-statisticians in behavioral and social science fields, this book provides clear and reasonably simple explanations of some of the most common multivariate analyses. Each chapter focuses on a different analysis and presents its conceptual underpinnings, underlying assumptions, and basic procedures with a minimum of equations and many concrete examples. It does not teach you how to perform the analyses but does provide references for those who wish to get more detailed information. As a research scientist who doesn’t always remember everything I learned in graduate statistics class, I find this book an invaluable aid keeping up with the current literature in my field and in making the most of statistical consultations. This book is ideal for anyone whose job requires them to be a "consumer" of research; for researchers who wish to further their understanding of data analysis; and as a companion text for graduate statistics classes.

About the Author

As a private landlord herself, as well as someone who has been a student accommodation manager at two popular universities, Catherine Bancroft-Rimmer knows that there is a need for a clear and comprehensive handbook for landlords entering the student letting market for the first time. Even for those who have been letting to students for years, the market and the legislation are constantly changing and it is ever more important to ensure you are operating within the law and keep up to date with how best to market your investment.

And of course, you can’t detect this in any of the product description information. Guess the author’s name should have given it away……

E L James is a former television executive, wife and mother of two based in West London. I really don’t like writing bad reviews. I admire people who have the courage to put pen to paper and expose themselves to the whole world, especially those writing erotica. Having just finished this book, however, I feel compelled to write a review.

About half way through the book, I looked up the author to see if she was a teenager. I really did because the characters are out of a 16 year old’s fantasy. The main male character is a billionaire (not a millionaire but a billionaire) who speaks fluent French, is basically a concert level pianist, is a fully trained pilot, is athletic, drop dead gorgeous, tall, built perfectly with an enormous penis, and the best lover on the planet. In addition, he’s not only self made but is using his money to combat world hunger. Oh yeah, and all of this at the ripe old age of 26! And on top of that, he’s never working. Every second is spent having sex or texting and emailing the female character. His billions seem to have just come about by magic. It seriously feels like 2 teenage girls got together and decided to create their "dream man" and came up with Christian Grey.

Then come the sex scenes. The first one is tolerable but as she goes on, they become so unbelievable that it becomes more laughable than erotic. She orgasms at the drop of a hat. He says her name and she orgasms. He simply touches her and she orgasms. It seems that she’s climaxing on every page.

Then there’s the writing. If you take out the parts where the female character is blushing or chewing her lips, the book will be down to about 50 pages. Almost on every single page, there is a whole section devoted to her blushing, chewing her lips or wondering "Jeez" about something or another. Then there’s the use of "shades of".
I enjoy erotica and heard so much about this book that I had to give it a shot, but I’m five chapters in and just can’t take it anymore. This has to be the most appallingly atrocious writing I’ve ever seen in a major release. The pseudonymous British author sets the action (such as it is) in Washington State… for no reason than that her knowledge of America apparently consists of what she read in "Twilight"… but the entire first-person narrative is filled with Britishisms. How many American college students do you know who talk about "prams," "ringing" someone on the phone, or choosing a "smart rucksack" to take "on holiday"? And the author’s geography sounds like she put together a jigsaw puzzle of the Pacific Northwest while drunk and ended up with several pieces in the wrong place.

And oh, the repetition…and the repetition…and the repetition. I’m convinced the author has a computer macro that she hits to insert one of her limited repertoire of facial expressions whenever she needs one. According to my Kindle search function, characters roll their eyes 41 times, Ana bites her lip 35 times, Christian’s lips "quirk up" 16 times, Christian "cocks his head to one side" 17 times, characters "purse" their lips 15 times, and characters raise their eyebrows a whopping 50 times. Add to that 80 references to Ana’s anthropomorphic "subconscious" (which also rolls its eyes and purses its lips, by the way), 58 references to Ana’s "inner goddess," and 92 repetitions of Ana saying some form of "oh crap" (which, depending on the severity of the circumstances, can be intensified to "holy crap," "double crap," or the ultimate "triple crap").

All Quiet on the Western Front (Adaptation) Audible – Abridged dged
Author: Erich Maria Remarque ID: B00SSTU4SS

“There is a whistling sound behind us. Shells pass overhead and explode in a sheet of flame a hundred meters away.” When Paul Büumer and his classmates join the army, nothing has prepared them for the death and destruction they witness. Machine guns, huge artillery shells, and poison gas create a nightmare world for these young men and their older comrades. For months and years, attack is followed by counterattack. Will any of Paul’s friends survive long enough to return to their families and loved ones? Will there be a place for them at home when peace finally comes? Can any of these soldiers make sense of the massive conflict in which they are involved?
Done.

Erich Maria Remarque (1898-1970) served in World War I, where he received wounds five times in battle. The searing images of trench warfare left indelible scars on Remarque, who then attempted to exorcize his demons through the writing of literature. "All Quiet on the Western Front" is Remarque’s most memorable book, although he wrote nine others dealing with the miseries of war.
"All Quiet on the Western Front" is the story of Paul Baumer, a young German soldier serving in the trenches in France. Baumer’s story is not a pleasant one; he volunteered for the war when his instructor in school, Kantorek, urged the class to join up for the glory of Germany. After a rigorous period of military training (where Paul and his buddies meet the hated drill instructor Himmelstoss, a recurring character throughout the book), Baumer and his friends go to the front as infantrymen. Filled with glorious ideas about war by authority figures back home, Baumer quickly discovers that the blood-drenched trenches of the Western Front are a quagmire of misery and violent death. As soon as the first shells explode in the mud Paul and his friends realize everyone back home is a liar, that war is not the glorious transformation of boys into men but rather the systematic destruction of all that is decent and healthy. As Paul’s friends slip away one by one through death, desertion, and injury, Paul begins to wonder about his own life and whether he will survive not only the war but also a world without war.
Remarque’s book exposes all of the insanities of war. The incongruities of violent battle versus long periods of boredom repeatedly appear throughout the book. On one day, Paul and his friends sit around discussing mundane topics; the next day they are bashing French skulls during an offensive.
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT is not the story of military strategy, or a tale concerned with the mass movement of armies and people. It is not a novel about the higher view of war, the way it is seen by governments and generals. It is, in fact, the story of one man caught up in a war that he doesn’t even seem to fully comprehend. He and his friends are battered and wounded, and simply trying to survive each day as it comes. The book is powerful and memorable. Erich Maria Remarque shows us what war is like, and shows us a tale of people trying to stay alive, but becoming more and more alienated from the regular world they left behind.
The story is gritty, dirty and depressing. It probably isn’t exactly explaining what life was like for the German soldiers during WWI, but my guess is that it comes extremely close. The men have trouble finding food, they are ordered around by sadistic officers, they are cold, and hungry – and there’s a war going on, the nature of which means that literally at any second they could be killed or horribly maimed. The book focuses on the death associated with the war, but it also spends a lot of time going over the suffering and the pain. Remarque tells us of the soldiers wounded, of those slowly dying in no-man’s land with no hope of being rescued or of dying a clean death. The lucky ones are the ones who die quickly; the unlucky are in agony for days or weeks.
There really isn’t much of a plot, which would certainly seem to be in keeping with the way an average solider would view the war. The narrative bounces us around from the front lines, to the rear camps, to civilian villages in a sequence as random as it would have appeared to anyone involved in the war.

Unknown Binding: 316 pagesPublisher: Pearson Education, Inc. (2006)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0131440489ISBN-13: 978-0131440487 Product Dimensions: 10.9 x 8.4 x 0.7 inches Shipping Weight: 1.6 pounds Best Sellers Rank: #2,706,320 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

THis is a good review book if you have the full text. It is full of tests and questions that will help you review the huge and expensive full text. If you are looking for a watered down version of the full text like I was, this is not the book for you. It has one or two page chapter reviews at the start of each chapter but other than that it is all T/F and essay questions.

I got the book, and in a fairly timely manner. However… They seem to be confused as to how to label the quality of the books. I purchased the book thinking it would be in "very good" condition. What I got was not. Most pages are hard to read because they are completely covered in notes and highlighted. Will be very hard to sell this book after this semester. Disappointed.

This book came right on time to start my class, I think I purchased same book from another seller :(.. Silly, but I was able to keep one in school & one home. So no harm done.

Your Body Speaks Your Mind

Your Body Speaks Your Mind: Decoding the Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Messages That Underlie Illness Audio CD – Abridged, Audiobook, CD
Author: Visit ‘s Debbie Shapiro Page ID: 1591795826

About the Author

Deb Shapiro has trained extensively in various schools of bodywork, Buddhist meditation, and Jungian psychology. Her books include Your Body Speaks Your Mind (Sounds True, 2006) and Unconditional Love (Time Warner-AOL, 2003). She resides in Boulder, Colorado.

Audio CDPublisher: Sounds True, Incorporated; Unabridged edition (June 2007)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1591795826ISBN-13: 978-1591795827 Product Dimensions: 5.3 x 0.6 x 5.8 inches Shipping Weight: 0.8 ounces (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #973,204 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #109 in Books > Books on CD > Health, Mind & Body > Fitness #526 in Books > Books on CD > Health, Mind & Body > General #847 in Books > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Alternative Medicine > Holistic

"All your thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that fire off throughout your body, altering the chemical composition and behavior of your cells." ~ Deb Shapiro

If you have ever wondered how emotions affect the body, then "Your Body Speaks Your Mind" is an excellent place to start. Not only will you be able to understand your symptoms, you will also know how to eradicate them. This book contains many answers, especially to the following questions:

How do neuropeptides carry information from the mind to the body?
Do all diseases have their origin in the mind?
How do unresolved emotions affect your health?
Why are certain feelings linked to specific body parts?
What are the specific steps you can take to heal the body with your mind?

Deb Shapiro makes an interesting connection between love and health. She also shows how creative visualization and writing in a journal can help to take away symptoms of illness. By giving up negative emotions you can literally heal the body from the inside out. This book then becomes most useful as you make the connections and start the healing process.

"70 percent of patient visits to the doctor are for stress-related illnesses." ~ pg. 5

Some of the topics in this book include: Insomnia, Addiction, Nervous Breakdowns, Depression, Anxiety, Skin Conditions, Infertility, Menopause, The Digestive System, Eating Disorders and Heart Issues.

A CD is included with this book and contains visualization practices. I can recommend this book very highly and think it would make a perfect addition to any health library.

~The Rebecca Review

I am an energy medicine practitioner, and I use this book frequently to support my clients in making the changes in their beliefs that support improvements in their health. The information is an excellent partner to Louise Hay’s "Heal Your Body" (or her larger book "You Can Heal Your Life".) My perspective is that our beliefs affect our emotions in somewhat predictable ways; our emotions affect our biochemistry in some predictable ways; our biochemistry determines our physical health. The beliefs that are negatively impacting our physical health are often hard to unearth, and this book is extremely useful in offering possible starting points to consider.

I expected more from this book, and was disappointed (which is why I’m returning the item to the store).

The author begins by giving an overview of the chakra system. An overview that is completely inaccurate according to ancient and existing information. The first chakra, for example, has never been related to "finance" in any way, yet the author managed to make that connection. In fact, all of the information in this book seems to have been grossly altered to give it a "new" feel.

The connections between mental/emotional issues and physical problems are the same old 1960’s brochure material. If you grind your teeth, the author asks what you’re angry about. If you’re constipated, the author wants to know what you’re holding onto.

I don’t know if the author was trying to re-write old bodymind material, or address the energy system. She seems to be attempting to do both in this book, but she doesn’t do it well.

The biggest disappointment comes when you discover there are no "answers" in this book. No suggestions about how to deal with psychosomatic illness. The dozens of other bodymind books I’ve read have given thoughts about how to address physical problems, but all Deb Shapiro seems to do is ask questions.

If you want information about the mind/body connection, there are many books superior to this one.
